Belgium: Translators Associations from the centre of the European Union

Translators Associations EuropeBelgium can be identified by having two big cultural groups: the French-speaking and the Flemish, Dutch-speaking. The country’s capital, Brussels, serves as headquarters to the European Union. Gastronomically, Belgium is famous for its beers, chocolates and world-renowned waffles (called “gaufres”). The Kingdom of Belgium is a federal state in Western Europe with over 11 million inhabitants.

Lexis estimates there are at least 3 national translators associations in Belgium:

One of the most important interpreting and translation associations in the country is CBTIP. Another Belgian translators association is the one that concerns quality translators, BQTA. There is also the translation association concerning literary translators, ATLB.

There is also CIUTI, an international translators association based in Belgium and CETL, a European translation association which also has its headquarters in the country.
