Translators Associations Europe: AIT

Linking customers to specialized professionals in Switzerland

Founded in 1945, the Association of Interpreters and Translators (Association d’Interprètes et de Traducteurs or AIT) has more than 150 professional translators and consecutive and simultaneous interpretation.

This translators association, founded by a group of graduates of the School of Translation and Interpretation in the University of Geneva, is a non-profit organization that wants to link businesses and private organizations looking for translation and interpretation services providers to specialized professionals in varied fields.

The AIT publishes a newsletter called “The Interpreter” and prints out the list of professional members.

To find a translator or an interpreter, go to AIT’s website.

Keep in mind that Switzerland has four national languages: German, French, Italian and Romansh. However, only the first three are considered official the Federal Administration of the Swiss Confederation. About 64% of the population speaks German, 20% speak French and 6.5% use Italian as their language.
