Translators Associations Europe: Norway

Norway: Translators Associations in the country of Henrik Ibsen and Edvard Munch

translators associations europeNorway is famous for its history, connected to the fearless Vikings who terrorised Europe in their time. It has also become known for more peace-bringing reasons: it is home to the fjords, the long, narrow inlets with steep sides or cliffs, created in a valley carved by glacial activity. The kingdom’s population is of around 5 million inhabitants, which makes it the second least densely populated country in Europe. Oil and gas are two of Norway’s main economic resources.

Lexis estimates there are at least 4 national translators associations in Norway.

One of the most important interpreting and translation associations in the country is SFF. Another Norwegian translators association is the one that concerns translators of literature, NO. There is also the Norwegian Audiovisual Translators Association, NAVIO, and the translators association within the writers union, NFF.
