Sweden: Translators Associations from the nation of Selma Lagerlöf

Translators Association EuropeSweden is a country of landscapes, famous for the midnight sun, a natural phenomenon occurring in summer months at latitudes north and nearby to the north of the Arctic Circle, and south and nearby to the south of the Antarctic Circle where the sun remains visible at the local midnight. The third largest country in Europe is a constitutional monarchy with a highly developed economy, with its cars and furniture being famous worldwide. Its population is of around 9 million inhabitants.

Lexis estimates there are at least 4 national translators associations in Sweden.

One of the most important translation associations in the country is SELTA, which is a union of Sweden-English literary translators. Another Swedish translators association is the one that concerns authorised translators, FAT. There is also SFÖ, a professional translators association and SFF, the translators association within the Swedish Writers Union.
