China: Translators Associations in the land of Gao Xingjian

translators association asia pacificChina (officially the People's Republic of China, PRC) is the world's most populous country, with over 1.3 billion inhabitants. It is is a single-party state governed by the Communist Party of China, which exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces, five autonomous regions, four directly controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Chongqing), and two mostly self-governing special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau). Chinese cuisine is perhaps the most widely known feature of this country’s culture.

Lexis estimates there are at least 2 national translators associations in China.

One of the most important translation associations in the country is TAC, the Translators Association of China. Another Chinese translators association is STTACAS, dedicated to the translation of science and technology.

The territory of Hong Kong also has its own translators association, HKTS.
