Its name derives from Goryeo, a dynasty that ruled in the Middle Ages. South Korea is a presidential republic that consists of sixteen administrative divisions. It is a developed country with a very high standard of living. South Korean economy is Asia’s fourth largest and ranked 15th in the world. Historically, while the culture of Korea has been heavily influenced by its neighbour, China, it has nevertheless managed to develop a unique cultural identity that is unique. It has almost 48 million inhabitants.

One of the most important translation associations in the country is KST, the Translators Association of Korea. Another South Korean translators association is KATS, dedicated to studying translation.
