Translators Associations Europe: Estonia

Estonia: Translators Associations from the homeland of Ernst Enno

translators associations europeEstonia is a republican state in the Baltic region of Northern Europe. However, many Estonians consider themselves to be Nordic rather than Baltic. The term Baltic as a concept that groups Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia has been criticised, as what the three nations have in common almost wholly derives from shared experiences of occupation, deportation, and oppression. Estonia has 17 counties and a population of over a million inhabitants. Its language, Estonian, is quite close to Finnish.

Lexis estimates there are at least 2 national translators associations in Estonia.

One of the most important interpreting and translation associations in the country is ETTL. Another Estonian translators association is the one that unites translation companies, AETC.
