Germany: Translators associations in the largest economy in the EU

Germany, officially the Federal Republic of Germany, has 16 states and is governed from Berlin, its largest city.

With 82 million inhabitants, the country is the most populous member state and the largest economy in the European Union – Germany was a founding member of its predecessor, the European Community, in 1957.

It is also one of the major political powers of the European continent, a member of the G8 and the G20, and a technological leader in many fields.

Germany is also known for having influenced the world in the scientific, inventions, and cultural fields.

BDÜ stands out amongst German translators associations for being Germany's largest association of professional linguists.

ADU Nord is a translators association with headquarters in Northern Germany.

The German Professional Interpreters and Translators Association (ATICOM) works towards overcoming the obstacles created by the globalisation of markets and the growth of Europe.

The German Interpreters and Translators Association (VÜD) was founded in 1990, less than a month after Germany became a united country again, and brings together approximately 160 qualified and experienced professionals.

There's also a translators association that's committed to promoting young scientists in the Translation and Interpreting fields. It's called DGÜD.

In addition to these 6 organizations, Germany is the home to an international translators associations: the European Translators Association in Straelen (EÜK).
