Helsinki to host EUATC's annual conference

Translators Associations News: EUATC conference Helsinki 2012The European Union of Associations of Translation Companies’ annual conference usually attracts owners, managers and senior staff of all the leading translation associations and companies in Europe.

This year, Helsinki was the chosen location for the meeting. The Finnish city, where translators associations from all over Europe will gather, was considered by the New York Times to be the second most interesting spot to visit in the world. Moreover it was chosen as Design World Capital in 2012.

The EUATC 2012 conference will focus on themes such as innovation and new business models.

The event will have the participation of globally renowned experts, such as Ben Sargent, of Common Sense Advisory, Kaija Pöysti, of the Intosome blog or Jessica Rathke, L10N Sales & Marketing’s CEO.

Professionals in charge of successful translation associations and companies will be able to share their knowledge and expertise. Issues like the following will be discussed: the current condition of the translation market, marketing through social media, financing through crowdsourcing, international sales and consequent legal matters and, of course, the latest news on translation software (Machine Translation).

As interesting as listening to this year’s panel of speakers, all networking opportunities available during the event are something to keep in mind. The Business Lounge format and the networking dinner remains a part of the programme in 2012, which means extra chances to make new contacts and work on deals and partnerships.

Rapidly changing information technology and internet-born expansion opportunities are revolutionizing the way a translation association or company works. These changes alter the way translators work, but also the expectations raised by their clients.

It is thus that EUATC’s annual conference is so important for the sector. It allows all interested professionals to keep informed about what’s new in the job.
