Spain: Translators Associations in the country of Cervantes and Picasso
Spain is one of the three countries that form the Iberian Peninsula (the other two are Portugal and the UK, through Gibraltar). This constitutional monarchy comprises 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities. There are over 46 million people living in Spain. The country has five recognised languages: Spanish, Galician, Catalan / Valencian, Occitan and Basque.
One of the most important translation associations in the country is ACEtt, the Spanish Literary Translators Association. Another Spanish translators association is the one that concerns audiovisual translators, ATRAE. There is also the translation association concerning conference interpreters, AICE and ASETRAD, a translators association for translators, proofreaders and interpreters.
