Translators Associations Global: IAPTI

Addressing issues of concern in the translation and interpretation industry

Translators Associations Global: IAPTIBased in Argentina, in the city of Buenos Aires, the International Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (IAPTI) is a civil association, established in September 2009 that aims to promote ethical practices and address issues of concern in the translation and interpretation industry.

This translators association was created by a group of professional language mediators as a mean to promote exactly these values. These professionals wanted to promote ethical practices in their profession, as a venue in which to establish a dialog, without censorship and without conflicts of interest, with the aim of promoting effective professional ethics.

IAPTI represents and protects the interests of its members – translators and interpreters of all specialties – and stimulates the creation of institutional bonds with other associations and public entities, both foreign and domestic. Its main objective is to defend the translating and interpreting profession.

This translation association contribute to the training, specialization and professional development of its members, by organizing congresses, seminars and meetings, issuing of publications and developing academic activities.

You can check all of these initiatives in its bilingual (English and Spanish) website, a platform that includes articles, news, resources, a searchable database of the association's members and a private forum for members.

This translators association also issues public opinions on subjects related to and surrounding translation and interpretation activities. This way, it contributes to advance general knowledge regarding the task of translators and interpreters, that's one of its objectives.
