Translators Associations Global: GALA

Where Local and Global shake hands

Translators Associations News: GALAThe Globalisation and Localisation Association (GALA) is the largest language-related non-profit organisation in the world. Its point is to provide resources, education, ideas and research for translation associations and companies, language technology or content localisation professionals. Through GALA, members “deploy sophisticated multilingual strategies and proven tools to take content and products to markets around the world”.

The goal of this association is to encourage professionals around the world to use local communication “as an indispensable component to a global strategy”. According to GALA’s philosophy, “gaining access to customers across the globe requires a local mindset for all target markets”. In a nutshell, if you want to succeed globally, you must communicate locally. Language services providers can help you reach those goals.

In addition, GALA provides localisation professionals with “the only truly global, non-biased corporate language and translation company”. You can take advantage, both online and in-person, of shared platforms which gather the global language community together. This way, you can share knowledge and offer / receive collaboration.

GALA works with nearly 300 companies from more than 50 countries. Most of the companies are from Europe (over 50%) and North America (around 20%). However, as a worldwide organisation, it is open to professionals from around the globe.

If you want to become a member of GALA, you can choose one of two options: full membership, for companies specialised in language and translation services and technologies – that includes translators associations and companies, localization service providers and consultants, internationalisation specialists and language technology developers; affiliate membership, for companies that touch the language services industry as buyers of language services or providing technology for the industry.
