Translators Associations Latin America: ATPP
Standing up for professional translators in Peru
 The Peruvian Association of Professional Translators (ATPP) was founded in Lima, Peru, in 1992.
This translation association with 20 years of experience is a private non-profit association that was formed to provide institutional support for the translating and interpreting professions.
The idea behind its creation was the benefit of both translators and their clients.
The first have to honor the association’s code of ethics, this meaning that translators have be competent, constantly strive for excellence and be respectful to their clients and colleagues.
To be a member of the Peruvian translators association, a translator or an interpreter must have at least ten years experience in the sector.
ATPP was born with noble objectives. It wants to promote translation and interpretation as professional activities in Peru, by ensuring that professional translators and interpreters adhere to strict ethical and quality standards.
The association aims to contribute to the use of accurate and uniform terminology to facilitate communication and promote recognition of the translator and interpreter as high-ranking professionals.
ATPP is an institutional member of the American Translators Association (ATA) and is affiliated with the International Federation of Translators (FIT).

On ATPP’s website, it is easy to loop up a translator or an interpreter, using the members directory. You can also check out on the website a glossary of Peruvian institutions and international agencies with offices in Peru – ATPP hopes this directory contributes toward standardizing the names of the listed institutions.
ATPP says that this glossary will soon be available in English.

Keep in mind that Spanish is one of the most widely distributed languages in the world, as it is spoken by 329 million people. It is the official language of over 20 countries, including Peru, a country with almost 30 million inhabitants and where Quechuan e Aymaran are also official languages.
