Wordbee makes major gains in Japanese translation market

Luxembourg, September 18, 2012

The Wordbee translation management system continues to make major gains in the Japanese translation market with the recent announcement that Nikon Precision Inc. has signed up to its Translation and Project Management SaaS (Software as a Service) system.

The gains made in the Japanese market reflect Wordbee’s move beyond the novelty of being a first generation web-based translation management system. Nikon Precision executive Mr. Andrew Jones explains, “Wordbee dominates Japanese language support and modern workflows, helping us to keep our costs down.”

Does the movement of Japanese corporations toward cloud solutions like Wordbee suggest a sea change in the industry? Mrs. Anita Sempels, Wordbee spokeswoman, clarifies, “I think that in the beginning, it was the localization providers who first recognized how powerful our solution was. Now, we are seeing that our investment in Asian languages support, including Chinese, Korean and Japanese, is also paying off among corporate clients.”

Mr. Andrew Jones draws the same conclusion. “As a cloud-based tool, Wordbee enables us to automate part of our processes, but the most important question we had was, how does the translation tool deal with Japanese language? And we found that it handles all three major Japanese syllabaries, and Wordbee provides the interface in Japanese as well.”

According to Wordbee, the full list of Japanese features includes a Japanese interface, support for Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana syllabaries, Japanese date formats, Japanese-specific calendars, as well as full-width and half-width numbers. This technology is used in other areas of the translation management system to provide accurate word counts, and correct segmentation, as well as translation memory applications including pre-translation.

Nikon Precision executive Mr. Andrew Jones summed it up, saying “After considering different web-based translation tools, we decided to go with Wordbee due to their extensive Japanese language support features.”
